10.How is life coaching different from counselling?

1. Is the counselling session is confidential?

The counselling sessions is confidential. The counsellor also frequently meets with a supervisor to talk about the progress of work she/he is doing. One  should confirm that your counsellor is in regular supervision.

2. Am I at liberty to change a  counselor ?

Sometimes, you may want to try a different person for a councellor. At times you may have to meet a few people before you find a counsellor you feel comfortable enough to talk with. It is all within your rights to do so.

3. How long does counselling take?

The time counselling will take depends on a number of variables, such as, the severity of the problem, the type of the problem, the motivation of the client and the age of the client.   The pace of the work is often directed by the individual  We are happy to work within a short time frame or longer term according to what your needs may be and would discuss and agree this with you at the beginning of the work.

4. Are there diverse types of counselling?

Yes, there are numerous types of counselling ranging from ones that are directed by the counsellor to ones that are directed by you.

5. Difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

In practice there is little disparity. To some, counselling is support around a specific issue and psychotherapy as support that is continuing. Sometimes the distinction, is in relation to the theoretical surroundings that the support is based, counselling evolving from the client-centred approach and psychotherapy evolving from psychoanalysis.

6. Can I sample out counselling before agreeing to go every week?

7. What is confidentiality?

Everything that you talk about in the counselling sitting will not be known  to other people and the counsellor is professionally obliged not to disclose information that you give her/him. There are a few exceptions. If your counsellor believes that you intend to harm yourself or another person shehe has a responsibility to let someone know, though this would usually be discussed with you first.
